Rest in Peace, John Glenn

Good Friday (12.9.16) morning.  On Thursday, 12.8.16, John Herschel Glenn, 95, died at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, OH.  “Rest in Peace, John Glenn”.

My condolences to his family.

You can read a lot of his story here:

Family life of John Glenn.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Anna Margaret Castor, in 1943, and were married 70 years.  They had two children:  Carolyn and John David.

He was a Marine, Astronaut, and a U.S. Senator.

Some of his accomplishments:

First American to orbit the earth (2.20.62, took 4 hours and 55 minutes).  Famous phrase: “Zero G, and I feel fine.”

Set the transcontinental speed record as a test pilot.

Oldest person in space (second flight:  shuttle Discover, 1988).

Longest running Senator in Ohio’s history.  On his third attempt in 1974, he won. When he announced his upcoming retirement in 1997, he said, “There is still no cure for the common birthday.”

Last survivor of the original Mercury 7 astronauts.

Rest in peace, John Glenn.  I’m sure you left a multitude of memories for your family to remember!

Now, let’s take some time to do the same.

Send a card to your grown children or to your grandchildren.  If you have an elderly mom, take a little time for her, too.

Friends also enjoy getting cards.  Here, I have lots of options for you to download, print and send out!  Let me help you make your mark in the lives of the people that matter the most to you.

Let’s move on to my own FREE offerings today.  Just right click and save to your own computer.  Put a copy of my card in the folders you build, and you’ll always know where you got the graphics.  And, of course, it’s there for you to SHARE! SHARE! SHARE!

Just right click and save to your computer.  All graphics are made by me!

Today’s graphics are: Top:  Rest in Peace, John Glenn; heart gift tag, 2 heart papers, seven fractal card fronts, and a coloring page.

I love the two “retired cards”.  One is a polite version; the other is a “telling it all” version.

Okay!  That’s it for today’s graphics.  Use them with some pre-made cards and envelopes, and your cards will just take a minute to get together.

Remember to grab my card!

I’d appreciate any and all comments.  Please take a moment to leave one below.  And thanks!

Cj @ Grannies Print Shop.blogspot.com designs are to help grandparents and grown children reach out to those they love.  Closing the miles equal smiles (on their faces and in their hearts).  Make a connection again by sending a physical card so others will feel the joy of receiving REAL MAIL. FREE Fun for Halloween in Columbus!

Good Monday (10.24.16) morning!  Try painting a pumpkin for Halloween.  There's still time to do this delightful event, if you live in Columbus, OH!

Want to plan a fun, yet FREE family activity?  These are some great ones coming up at the end of this week, so still time to get in on the fun!  Good for all the family; why not include grandparents, if they live in town.  Or grandparents; why NOT suggest these to your family and then all of you go!

Kids from 3-6 years and up, can do just that at the Youth Services Activity Center.  The presenter is Lisa Wise, and if you like to do to that with your kids, call her at 614-822-7277 x5006.  It’s only while supplies last; and the date is 10/28/16 from 11 am to 11:30 am.

I guess it’s at the Westerville Public Library, 126 South State Street, Westerville, OH 43081.

Oh!  On November, 2nd, they have a FREE Let’s Get Crafty.  It’s at 4:15 pm, library again.

Lots going on from Line Dancing and Kid’s Night on 10-24 to Trick or “Suites” on Oct. 27th (this one is fantastic if you have a child with autism!) to Adult Game Night at the Delaware Country District Library / Powell Branch on Nov. 2nd

NOT FREE, but sounds really interesting and fun:
On October 27, there’s a Boos and Beers: Haunted History of Columbus Walking Tour (with Beer) at 7 pm. The cost if $20; Departs near the North Market, 59 Spruce St., Columbus, OH 43215.  (It also falls on the calendar throughout the month, so go look at the dates.)

The calendar goes through Nov. 12 with a button that says “Show More Events”.

Do a search in other areas for “free events in (your city), (your state)”.  (I did a search for “free events for Halloween in Columbus, OH.)

Onto my own FREE offerings today.  Just right click and save to your own computer.  Put a copy of my card in the folders you build, and you’ll always know where you got the graphics.  And, of course, it’s there for you to SHARE! SHARE! SHARE!

Today’s graphics are:  four blank quick frames with my sarcastic fractal crabs and one with a remark in the frame for using as a card.

Another features a character named Azure with a cute quote.  This one would be great for a card, too.

Another has room for a picture with a quote along with an example featuring me.  Would be great for a pick-me-up booster for someone you love.

In total, there are 8 items for today.

Above:  The blank of this one was featured at the lead in; at the top.
